Boiler and heating oil efficiency tips from the experts

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) has warned that central heating boiler systems need to be maintained on a regular basis to run efficiently.

The Institute’s Chief Executive, Blane Judd, explained that energy efficiency is not just a case of getting a new A-grade boiler. He said, “If somebody puts a new boiler on to an existing system and they don’t flush the system through properly and they don’t add the additive, then an A rated boiler very quickly becomes a B rated boiler.”

Investing in a more efficient oil boiler can significantly cut the cost of heating a home. In addition to taking the CIPHE’s advice, signing up to a boiler maintenance scheme like Team Energy will ensure an oil boiler continues to perform at its most efficient, saving money in the long run and providing valuable peace of mind.

As well as boiler maintenance, another tip for boosting efficiency is using premium kerosene, which helps to maintain a cleaner heating system. Premium kerosene reduces the chance of oil boilers becoming blocked, resulting in a cleaner burn and reducing the amount of CO2 emitted.
