Changing boilers can save energy and money

2010-10-12 16:19:58

The National Home Improvement Show is set to offer a great deal of guidance on how to make homes more energy efficient this year.

The event is to take place at Earl’s Court, London, between the 1 and 3 October 2010 and will show visitors the small and relatively inexpensive things they can do to save money and energy in their own homes.

One of the major tips is to replace older boilers with new, condensing boilers, which can be fitted for people who use gas and electricity, but are also an option for heating oil users.

Michael Holmes, a spokesman for the show, explained, "Installing a new boiler will also make significant savings. Prices start from around £400 for a condensing boiler and home owners can choose from gas, electric or oil fired."

Another important thing to remember when trying to boost energy efficiency in the home is having regular boiler maintenance carried out to ensure heating systems are running as smoothly as possible.

Signing up to a boiler maintenance and insurance scheme through Team Energy is a great way to save cash and set your mind at rest. Members save up to 25 per cent of usual prices and one of their OFTEC registered engineers is sent to members’ homes whenever there is a problem.
